We provide comprehensive coverage of global financial markets shaped by more than 25 years of experience providing technical strategy research to institutional clients. Our views are aggregated in a weekly report that covers equities, commodities, currencies, and Treasuries, including in-depth comments and easy-to-read charts. Each report consists of specific stock and ETF recommendations designed for idea generation. All subscribers also receive a daily report covering technical catalysts, high-conviction signals, and market internal measures. For Basic Plan Plus, Access Plan and Premium Plan subscribers, we provide weekly sector “deep dives” that compile important indicator data for stocks compared against their peers, including commentary to facilitate market timing. We also offer a weekly report covering cryptocurrencies and a monthly report covering cannabis stocks and ETFs.
Beyond the written product, we offer specialized high-touch services to Access Plan and Premium Plan subscribers, who can access our team via calls, meetings, and emails/IB for responsive analysis in a dynamic market environment. Active traders and money managers use these proprietary services to identify catalysts and action items specific to their watchlists or portfolios. Premium Plan services range from portfolio analysis and chartbooks to custom filters and scans. We are available for “teach-ins” regarding project work, providing full disclosure of our methodology.

Founder and managing Partner
Katie Stockton, CMT
Katie Stockton, CMT is Founder and Managing Partner of Fairlead Strategies, LLC, an independent research firm and investment advisor focused on technical analysis. She is the portfolio manager for the award-winning Fairlead Tactical Sector ETF (TACK), launched in March 2022. Prior to forming Fairlead Strategies in 2018, Katie spent more than 20 years on Wall Street providing technical research and advice to institutional investors. She served as Chief Technical Strategist for BTIG and Chief Market Technician at MKM Partners, and she has worked for technical strategy teams at Morgan Stanley and Wit Soundview.
With help from the Fairlead Strategies team, Katie provides research and consulting services to institutions, investment advisors, and individuals. Katie holds the distinction of being the youngest female to have attained the Chartered Market Technician (CMT®) designation in 2001. She has played a significant role in the CMT Association, serving as Vice President from 2012 to 2016.
Katie graduated with honors from the University of Richmond and now serves on the business school’s Executive Advisory Council. She contributes to her community by mentoring young women, guest lecturing at universities, and serving on the Endowment Investment Committee for her church. She also sits on the Board of Directors for Cary Street Partners, a leading independent wealth management firm.
As an official CNBC contributor, Katie frequently shares her market perspectives with investors worldwide. She is quoted often by financial news publications like Barron’s and Market Watch, and she has a wide following on social media.

Tracy Townshend
Tracy Townshend joined Fairlead Strategies, LLC in June 2019 as Chief Operating Officer. Previously she held roles in operations and business development in the nonprofit and pharmaceutical sectors. Tracy brings over 25 years of professional account management and technical sales experience. She is an investment advisor representative and contributes to Fairlead Strategies research and data analytics. She graduated with honors from the University of Richmond where she received a BS in Biology and completed graduate work at the University of Illinois at Chicago in Health Information Management.

Will Tamplin
Will Tamplin joined Fairlead Strategies in June 2021 as a Junior Analyst after graduating with honors from the University of Richmond with a BSBA. While at the University of Richmond, Will concentrated in Finance including coursework dedicated to technical analysis and data analytics. Will held an internship with Matrix Capital Markets Group in the summer of 2020 during which he honed his analytical skills. He is a registered investment advisor and helps facilitate Fairlead Strategies research and consulting services. His passion for markets developed at a young age with the inspiration of his father, who instilled his technical approach. Will has cleared all three levels of the Chartered Market Technician® exams and expects to receive his charter in 2024. In his free time, Will enjoys playing golf after having played competitively as a student-athlete on the UR Spider golf team.
ETF Portfolio Specialist and Senior Analyst
Kevin Abbott, CMT
Kevin brings over 15 years of experience in financial services and research to the Senior Analyst role at Fairlead Strategies. Most recently, he spent 10 years at Fidelity Investments as a member of the Equity Technical Research team and as a Research Analyst covering the Foreign Large Cap space. Prior to Fidelity, he worked in investor services roles at State Street. Kevin received his Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation in 2017. He graduated with dual Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Religious Studies from Stonehill College (MA), and an MBA from Boston College. Additionally, Kevin enjoys spending time with his family, deepening his knowledge of the Italian language, and distance running.

Lizzie Walker
Lizzie comes to Fairlead Strategies following an established parallel career as an administrator and Broadway actor. Over the last decade, she has performed leading roles on stage and within a cubical. Recently she completed her certification in Customer Success and joined the team at Fairlead to leverage this newly acquired skill set. Her unique background is foundational to the experience she provides to the Fairlead portfolio of clients. She is a proud graduate of the University of Michigan. She resides in Stamford, CT with her husband, son, and dog, Lincoln.
